Nib Acquisitions for November 2012

Though I will probably regret them, 2 Noodler's Ahabs, some O rings, a bottle of PR Tanzanite and bottle of PR Lake Placid Blue from.....WCS. At this rate, I won't have to visit any other web store.

Received a 1 ounce bottle of Noodler's Fox Red and a 1 ounce bottle of Noodler's Hunter Green inks today, both eternal inks.
I'm planning on using the Fox for return address and the Hunter for recipient addresses for Christmas cards this year.
USPS tracking tell me that I will receive a hard cover large Leuchtturm1917 Notebook tomorrow at work with the 5mm dot pattern.

Plans include a couple Renew nibs for my October Esterbrook pen purchases.

I have one Ahab and, after a good initial cleaning (especially the feed) with soapy water (rinse well) and some minor tweaking of the nib/feed relationship, mine has performed flawlessly.

I actually pimped it a bit with a $6 Nemosine 6 mm nib from Xfountainpens - installed with no issues and has worked great.

If you don't mind fiddling a bit, I think the Ahab is a very good pen - especially since there are lots of aftermarket nibs that cost next to nothing and turn it into a great daily user.

This probably doesn't count as an acquisition, but while unpacking a box of office supplies yesterday, I found a bottle of Pelikan blue-black ink, 5 O'clock Shadow, and Noodler's Eternal Brown. I thought I had left the Pelikan ink in the UK and the others in TN, but I'm glad I didn't!

Since you can't get the blue-black here anymore for whatever silly reason! I bought two bottles last year when I was overseas and was happy they made the flight without trouble.

I have a lot of friends in the UK. I can always get Pelikan blue-black if you or anyone else wants it.

Ordered a M205 last night, hopefully this one makes it past customs and survives canada post,...

Unlike my Goulet order that hit the border over 2 weeks ago and seems to still be held up

this is going to be my new work pen

I have an interview Monday, so I bought a pleather Samsonite junior bi-fold writing pad. I wanted something inexpensive that looked professional, and this fit the bill for $11.99 from Staples. If I land the job, I'll get one of these instead and PIF the Samsonite model to another job seeker.

Eerie! I was just drooling over that Saddleback folio yesterday.

Good luck on the interview, Andy!

They sure are nice. I think the small one would be great for to-do lists and taking notes in meetings.

Good luck on the interview, Andy!

Thanks, Dave. Get this: I didn't even apply for this job. I was found through career builder. The person that called me about this job last week gave me a time of 1:00pm today but said they would send me an email with contact information and details about the location. I got nothing but dead air until past noon today when they called again. They apologized for not sending the email and asked if I could still make it for 1:00. It's about a 30 minute drive from here, and I had assumed the interview was off. Anyway, it's rescheduled for this Friday. Maybe it's just me, but this seems a bit unprofessional for one of the largest insurance agencies in the US.

I'll return you from the Barber Shop to The Nib, now.

A Parker 51 pen and pencil set with a #254 box. I've got the pen apart and soaking. It'll need a new sack. Looks like someone tried to unscrew the press bar and the sac was sticking to the housing. The sac is all twisted up. The breather tube looks to be in really good shape. Still shiny. I'm kind of thinking this should be replaced also, though, since the pen is dismantled. Thoughts? It also has the gold filled cap and gold nib.

The pencil still works well and still has lead in it! I'm just not sure how much these were used. $27.00 for the set!

Also got a single jewel Esterbrook. Needs re-sacced, of course. $10.00

The same antique place had a Mont Blanc 149 from the mid 70's to mid'80's. The price was $390, but I don't know enough about them to know if that is a good price or not. Looked to be in really nice shape. Also there was a Mont Blanc Meisterstuck ballpoint pen and pencil set for about the same price.

Anyway, one pen/pencil set and one Esty.

Not bad pickin's.

Camera batteries are dead so no pic this time :frown:

Second Goulet order came today!

TWSBI 700 Vac
Noodler's Ahab Demonstrator (plus a couple of extra O rings)
J.Herbin Rollerball
4 Monteverde mini CCs
Noodler's Baystate Blue
Noodler's Navajo Turquoise

Was shopping yesterday at King of Prussia, PA and was surprised to find Paradise Pen, a very nice and complete pen store. After drooling over quite a few gorgeous FPs (and dropping a broad hint to my wife regarding a Christmas present!) I ended up purchasing two bottles of ink: Private Reserve Fiesta Red and Private Reserve DC Supershow Green. I tried both out this morning and am quite pleased with my choices!

I had a similar thing happen to me. I was wandering around Oakbrook Center Mall in Illinois with the missus and happened upon Paradise Pen. I had no idea it was there, I ogled many, many a pen but restrained from buying anything (mainly due to her glaring, I suppose). It is a very nice store. They even had a Pilot VP out for demo!
