Newb Wants to Try a Brush Restore

i'm looking to try to do my first restore. i have a few noob questions after perusing every restore thread I could find via search.

1) what exactly is meant by "drill out" the old knot. is it literally taking a drill bit and destroying the bristles until you can tear them out or cut them out somehow and then making the knot hole gunk free/smooth?

2) i'm not exactly sure what "loft" means and the differences between setting a knot shallow or deeper. can anyone elaborate on that?

3) i assume marine epoxy such as http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 is good enough for setting the new knot?

4) how do you make the fit of the knot perfect? do you have to add or subtract from the inner walls of the knot hole as needed (once you acquire the knot you are going to set)?

5) finally, which TGN knot would be good for a guy who is looking for something bigger than http://www.amazon.com/Omega-Stripey...ef=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1269300721&sr=8-2 for creams/soaps/uberlather alike... I'd like it to be thick, soft, but with some scrub-ability/backbone and I think I prefer the bulb appearance versus the fan.

Thanks so much in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer these noob questions!!

See my sig

Believe many US people use this.

Doesn't have to be a perfect fit. Really depends on the brush.

The TGN Finests are thick and soft with backbone and come in bulb and fan. What knot you get will depend on the handle you get.

Hope this helps.
