What's new

New TI Eagle 7/8"

Just thought I'd post some pics of my new "toy"....It's a Thiers Issard "Eagle" 7/8" with barber's notch & horn scales. The razor is very nice I must say!! I can't wait to shave with it!! This will be my first TI I've ever owned...Any tips for a new TI owner? I know that the carbonsong steel is supposed to be very hard, so honing it will probably prove to be interesting!!

Stunning. I love those big TIs, and the shoulderless style is my favorite.

From where did you procure it?

Chances are it will need a touchup on the stones. I've heard they are hard, but I really think thats something blown a tad out of proportion. I doubt it will give you too much trouble

Cool, I am looking forward to honing it up & trying it out! There was a bit of honewear on the razor already from the factory, so I doubt that I'll have to reset the bevel, but we'll see...

I got the razor from 1barber.com. I think I got one of the last 7/8" (unless they got more in since the last time I checked)...

Ooooh, they have a nice selection. How long did it take to arrive?

I doubt you will need to reset the bevel, but depending on how they hone them it may need to be tweaked to your liking.

I got it shipped fedex, so it took less than a week to arrive. In fact, I ordered it last Wednesday and it arrived today, so the shipping is pretty fast!

Very nice---I mean junk, send my way for proper disposal.

Should hone similar to another razor, just spend a little more time on each stone.

Ooohhh, very nice!

Thanks for the heads-up on 1barber, they don't have the one I'm lusting after, but I can't buy it now anyway, so.

Great looking razor. You have good taste and the decorated spine really adds to the blade. I have a number of TIs and a couple were not shave ready. The C135 hones far easier than net traffic might lead you to believe. If you have to touch it up it will hold the edge exceptionally well afterwards.

If you could only have one TI a 7/8 notch with decorated spine is the way to go. That is exactly how I got drawn in.:001_smile

Enjoy and please let us know how it goes.

Gotcha...well cool, I'm psyched to give it a go!! I will be sure to come back with a shave report as soon as I shave with it...

wow, a beast of a razor, notch, large blade, square point and all!
I suppose because of your chin beard?
How long have you been straight shaving? What were you using before? Why choose the T-I?
I also have a new T-I, but I think it needs honing a little more...shaved rough out of the box with only stropping.
Enjoy!
