New Simpson Polo 8

Hi all,

Today, my new Simpson Polo 8 arrived in the mail. Have not used it yet but I'm very impressed with the look and feel of it so far. Perhaps just slightly less backbone than my Chubby 1 but a lot more than my Kent BK8. This might be exactly what I was looking for! I'll update this thread with my impressions after the first shave.

My new brush with it's new family below:

Wow, great looking brush! That's the size I would get if I were to get a Polo. I originally liked the look of the Polo, but I opted for the Emperor 3 instead..... which is also a bit smaller. The Chubby and the BK8 look nice as well. Enjoy!!

Well...the first shave is done. It was just...alright. My lather was rather poor. Couldn't seem to get anything resembling what I usually get from my other brushes. I used Tabac soap.

I may have to chalk up the poor lather to a user issue. I may not have loaded it with enough soap and my patience level was low tonight.

That said, I love the feel of the brush. I prefer to bowl lather but this could easily appeal to a face latherer, too. Good backbone and enough of the scrub factor going on here.

I'm looking forward to the next time!

Once the brush dries, I'll post a pic of it in bloom.

New brushes are always tough to judge. It'll take a few uses before you get used to how much water your Polo holds and the ideal ratio for good lather. It'll be fine.

Congrats on the new brush! Keep at it. I struggled so much to make a good lather when I first got my BK8. Just load more!

Thanks a beautiful addition to your collection.......... I too like you have a Polo 8 in super as well as best, and had a problem with a good lather. But after several uses the badger hair relaxes and opens up and releases lather very easy "does not hog the lather" and as you say a great bowl lather and joy to use.
