New paraben-free KMF cream

Hello all,

Saw on shelf a pump bottle of Kiss My Face Cool Mint (I think?) that had a new graphics layout with a big advertisement of "NO PARABENS". Their website doesn't show it yet however.

I've seen on threads that this was a large concern for those seeking a "natural" cream. It looks like they are listening to their customers. I hope they make the unscented sensitive version paraben free as well.

The unscented is already available as a Paraben Free version, new label and all. I have two of them right here :)

All-natural...?!? :001_rolle

One of the main ingredients of KMF shaving creams is Propylene Glycol, which is veeeery far from being natural. They should stop advertising KMF creams as being "natural".

I'm not saying that it is a bad product. It certainly is a good bang for the buck. But promote it as being "natural" is simply a phoney.

Is the "parabens" supposed to give it more slickness?
According to my understanding, parabens are used for preservation purposes. There are several companies trying to work these out of their products as parabens have been suggested to be associated with breast cancer and other health concerns.
I have not read anything on slickness though.

"Natural" has no real meaning with respect to marketing. It is a buzzword used to convey a good feeling to the consumer.

I believe in Canada, they are trying to get manufacturers to stop using the word "natural" to describe products; my friends owns a grocery store and he use to advertise 'hormone and antibiotic free chicken' as "natural chicken" and the Feds made him stop using the word natural; I agree, it can be very misleading.

"Natural" as opposed to "Unnatural"? That label doesn't seem helpful. I do like KMF, though, and will have to check and see if the paraben-free is available here.

My wife is on a paraben-free kick right now -- I guess I should buy her some of the new KMF.........as long as it works as well as the old stuff it's ok with me.......

Really? In the US it's the opposite. They can pretty much plaster 'natural' on any food/consumable product that can't meet the standards set for 'Organic'. The marketing department apparently has to have something that has a connotation of healthiness in it.

In KMF's case, 'Natural' seems to mean no 'unnecessary' chemicals were added. I suppose for a perishable item like shaving cream, some preservative is necessary to prevent mold and or bacteria from taking over.

I have a Paraben-preserved dispenser of KMF Mint that gives very nice shaves as it is.

No direct link between parabens and cancer has ever been proven - however, lots of companies seem to be taking the opportunity to reformulate without using them. TOBs and eShave to name two more.

I'm sure I'll give the new KMF a go when it's readily available.

It explodes into lather in my bowl. Seems to be able to take a lot of water a little at a time as well. I'm a newb though, so only have Vanderhaagen soap to compare to.

Has anyone seen the Key Lime and Vanilla in the new, paraben free version?

If so, has anyone seen it in any chain stores in Canada? In Calgary, I can't find anyone that carries the big pump bottles as Superstore stopped bringing them in (except for unscented) earlier this year.

Thanks,
Pac

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but it's not possible to have a great shaving cream with all natural ingredients. You can have nice bath soaps or shampoos, but not shaving creams using organic ingredients.
Parabens are preservatives, and if they are not using parabens they must be using something else like benzoic acid, or the product will spoil quickly.
KMF is far from having all-natural products.

Right. It's a gimmick. I feel it's the consumer's responsibility to define what is 'natural' to them and research whether or not advertised 'natural products' fit that definition. The two don't always add up. Most of the time not.

So C-4 instead of parabens now, hé.....:biggrin1:

Only the all-natural C-4, mind you. Primarily from small, independent boutique manufacturers. There's a niche market the big explosives houses haven't tapped, yet. Where's the consumer outcry?

Will someone post a comparison between the regular KMF and the paraben-free version? I think everyone's looking for that.
