New ****iKon deluxe OC

After a recent spate of blood sacrifices, I have bid a reluctant farewell to my Tradere. It truly was a beautiful razor, but something about it meant that I had to concentrate on the blade angle all the time or it bit me, especially when I was shaving my head. I think it might be the flat blade and the amount of gap. This became especially apparent after I took my Weber on holiday and had a week of carefree shaving.

It has now left for its new home, and I am the very happy owner of an iKon deluxe OC with the OSS handle. I'd been eyeing these up for a while and am happy to report that it's everything I'd hoped for. It seems to shave as close as the Tradere, but is as intuitive as the Weber. It fits together beautifully and I love that the head covers the blade tabs but isn't much wider than the Weber, so it looks good on a bulldog handle too. I'm also a fan of the matte finish, which contrasts nicely with my polished Weber. I've shaved with it four times now, and every time has been very close and smooth with no irritation, not even a sting from the aftershave. This one's a keeper!

I guess that was open comb Tradere.

It was yes. I had no such problems with my Gilette old type though, so I don't think it was the comb that was the problem.

I have both, and the OC feels more aggressive than the SB. The SB, however, is the hands down smoothest shaver I've ever used, and I have the Ikon also. The new Ikon OC, is a great shaver. Relatively mild and very smooth.

I have the Ikon Deluxe OC and I've heard that it is more mild than the Ikon Solid Bar..... though I've never used the latter. A Tradere SB is on my list of things to try in the future. I have never had a bad shave with the Ikon Deluxe OC and the craftsmenship of this piece is very nice. Precision made and a cool matte finish. Reminds me of the finish on my bead blasted stainless steel Colt 1911 45 ACP. The Ikon OC is on the mild side, but sometimes that is what I want.

I think a more middle of the road level of aggression suits my face better. I'd love to try the Tradere SB, but it's a lot to drop if I find I have problems with that one too.

Here's a pic of my pair of SS razors, together with the MdC that's just arrived. I'm looking forward to trying it out later, it smells lovely!

The iKon razors are awesome but just didn't work out for me. The OC Deluxe is not super aggressive, but more aggressive than both sides of the OSS. I am going to be posting mine up on BST once I hit the 45 day mark.
