New Ian Buxton Book-101 World Whiskies to Try Before You Die

Hey All,

Just got Ian Buxton's latest book (came out in October of 2012), which is a sequel of sorts to his previous book "101 Whiskies to Try Before You Die" which came out in 2010. Great book in which he delves deeper into more great whiskies from around the world. Highly recommend picking up both books whether you're an experienced whisky drinker or just getting started.

Care to share a few interesting-sounding whiskies recommended in the book?

Also, as a fellow Chicagoan, where are your favorite places to drink in town? I like Delilah's for bourbons, and the Duke of Perth for scotch, just for starters.

Interesting. I very much enjoyed the first book; will have to get a copy of the new one. Thanks for the heads up.

Well, let's see:

Writer's Tear- N. Ireland
Chichibu- Japan
Bush Mills Black Bush-N. Ireland
Big Peat- Islay Scotland
Drambuie 15- Somewhere in Scotland
Bulleit- Lawenceburg, Kentucky (actually had this one and it's pretty good)

As for Whisky bars in Chicago, check out The Monkey's Paw on Southport. Pretty cool place and they offer some very nice whisky flights. I like Delilah's as well, spent a few long nights at that place lol :).

Haven't been to The Monkey's Paw. I'll definitely check it out. I've also heard great things about Lady Gregory's in Andersonville.

They have a nice selection of malts at the Redhead piano bar, but I can't spend much time there because of my low tolerance for Billy Joel and Elton John songs. If it was a REAL piano bar where they played Gershwin and Cole Porter, that would be a different story.
