I have a really nice silver tip from china. I want to change handles from the black plastic to perhaps wood. Does anyone provide this kind of service? Thx.
Most of the knots are epoxied in. The only way I could see this able to happen is if you put a lathe on old handle to nearly a nub and then inset it into your new handle. With the cost of whipped dog knots you might want to just order one of them and put it into your new handle.
I can attest to the fact that he does top shelf work and his prices are more than fair. He's made me 2 brushes and did a re-knot on another for me. Couldn't be more pleased with his work or turn around time.
Check out the Brush Making and Restorations Thread to see the endless handle options. I've transferred a boar knot from a plastic handle to a metal handle. I ended up cutting the plastic handle open and prying the plastic away from the knot.
