New Fountain Pen Revolution Piston Filler

Kevin of FountainPenRevolution.com has just announced the release of his new, proprietary piston filler pen, The Dilli. For those unfamiliar with FPR, it specializes in pens manufactured in India. I've had a couple of dealings with Kevin and he's a got a great little business and some very interesting, inexpensive pens. The Dilli is quite a bargain at $15.00 plus shipping, and for an additional $3.00, a flex or stub nib is available. I will probably eventually order one of these, but for the moment, I'm on a pen purchasing sabbatical. It looks very similar to some of the Noodler's pens, so I'm curious to see if these might be viable alternatives.

I'm not associated with FPR but am a very satisfied customer.

$20 (which includes shipping) for a flex. Even I can afford that one.
Just ordered the blue.

Of course, syngent, you're more than welcome to play with my new toy when it comes in.
I wear my "syngent enabler" badge quite proudly. Here fishy fishy!

I've been dealing with Kevin since before he launched the business. He and I were a big part of the scuttlebutt involving the provenance of the original Noodler's Nib Creeper pen -- he was selling the Chelpark Maverick, and I had enough of the Nib Creepers to know they were the same parts. He agreed with me based on tear downs we located and it went from there.

At any rate, he's a heck of a nice guy. I don't know if he still does it, but the last time I ordered from him, he was throwing in a complimentary Serwex pen just as a thank you. I passed those pens along with his URL to new pen users. I really want to support this pen, but I want it in black and green! I think I'll be waiting for those two to come on line and then will buy a flex and a stub.

Definitely want a flex nib of this pen, but not sure if I want to get the red one now or just wait for the black one.

I wonder how soon is "coming soon"

Has anyone actually written with one yet and can tell us how well it writes?

Since this was just announced this weekend, I doubt that anyone other than beta testers have tried it. Delivery from India to the U.S. is about two weeks so we'll have to wait a bit.

So...... my pen has arrived, but I have nothing to say about it at present.
I dropped the unopened package off to my resident FP expert for his learned opinion.

... to be continued.... :tongue_sm

If it is the same as the Noodler's nib creeper/resin piston filler it will be fine. I started out with one. They are easy to take apart and work. Nothing fancy to them. Not a huge ink pool. It may take a stroke to work but it will work lol. Mine has been working since I took it apart and cleaned out all the gunk left over from three years of Five O Clock Shadow/BBB leftovers.

So my brand new pen got here, which is odd thing number one since i didnt order one, huh

then it got further odd when the one pen i ordered became the two pens i didnt order,.. huh

This makes more sense now, after telling Sam i tweaked one of his two new pens he himself said, huh, as He only ordered one well,....

There is some "flex" in the flex nib, but its more spring then anything, but it does so well enough for use. Theres nothing fancy about these, the green one (the surprise pen) is very cheap in feel and look, and a stiff nib. But the blue one (the ordered one, that i never ordered) doesnt look to bad, better then its price suggests but still inexpensive looking. how do they write ? well i dont know, as i didnt know the pens i never ordered were showing up tonight so i am stuck at work with no ink

Ill update when i get home

Btw the "Fix" i had to do,.. the green freebie piston knob was stuck, wouldnt move at all to the point i was wondering if it was a piston, but a few taps on the counter, now thats taps, not whacks, gentle taps freed it up and it spun. When i retightened it back down, it locked again. If any of you end up with a green meaine remember to not turn the knob(even with light pressure) all the way back or it will lock, and while tapping it gently will free it, once ink is in it you may make a mess

Another odd thing, OP pictures have a shiney imprinted nib, this nib is raw steel, its flat and dull, and there isnt a marking on them. He must be in a rush to get them out

That green Serwex pen is the same model as the bonus pen I have gotten every single time I have ordered from FPR. It's a darn good pen for a freebie, and I would assume given the account above that the practice has continued. I have had to do a little work on the tines or repositioning the nib/feed on most of the ones I have received. I like to give them out with FPR's info to new fountain pen users.

ETA: Black and green are now in stock, and I have ordered one of each (one with stub and one with flex).

That's just the difference between the regular nib and the flex one. He's been selling the nibs for a while now, and that's what the flex nib he sells looks like.

AHA! I've got a black Serwex freebie from FPR and I ran into the same problem so I tossed it into my junk box. I just pulled it out and gave it a couple of taps, and voila! It's working fine now. I'll have to ink it up and probably tweak the nib/feed a bit, but it's pretty amazing to get a functioning piston-filler pen for the price they go for on FPR (or even free!).

hmmm, might be some interesting stuff here. Though I wondered a bit about the "proprietary" bit in the opening post; I don't claim to be a master of international anything, but from the later pictures it looks to be a pretty straight copy of the pelikan 150 piston filler...
Still, worth a look. My biggest problem is finding a good nib. either through accident, or by child, I seem to need serious nib repair every couple of years. thankfully, it hasn't yet cost me a lot. Yafa was nice enough to replace the nib in my Monteverde once, and I happened to find spares that worked for the pelikans, but my little monster just did a number on the Monteverde, one of 2 Yafas, AND my Parker 45!!!!
I need a more monster-proof bullet!
