Never Thought I Would be a CLUBMAN!

So I had my girl run out the other day and smell Pinaud Clubman for me and see if she liked it. I had not smelled it before. She came back with with a bottle and initially I found it intriguing, but after 24 hours or so I was hooked. Now I would consider myself a "clubman" which is odd because usually I have a pretty refined taste, but man, the smell of Tabac shave soap and Clubman aftershave are quite a match! I would say they are my favorite pair thus far. Now I would say I like the refined traditional smell of it.

So am I alone here guys?

The barber my dad took me to maybe 45 years ago always smelled of Clubman. I didn't know that's what it was called, of course. Heh! I was 5. But when I smelled it in the bottle for the first time in 45 years I remembered exactly where I knew that scent from. It's now one of my favorite A/S.

Thanks for the inaugeration into the club. I really had no idea what was involved in purchasing it. I will have to try more. For the record my favorite scent shave soap is AOS Sandalwood, and I dispise Arko!

Ok - so, I have to offer a disappointing story on this one... My amazing wife took her first whiff of Clubman on me and pronounced: "...it makes me think of Paula Abdul...you know, digging through my Mom's purse when I was little, engrossed in the aroma of cheap perfume, with Paula Abdul music playing...".

I think my conclusions were: a) my wife's smell-memory is more powerful than a locomotive, b) I MUST keep using Clubman until we can replace these awful memories (happy to help, Honey...) , and c) I will recommend Clubman to ALL!

Do not be deterred! Clubman-up!

I just got some on my recent trip across the border. At first I though it smelled just OK but now I am wearing it every day. I dont care what my wife thinks! It moisturizes and gives a nice refreshing burn.

There should be a clubman club in this forum!
