Need recommendations on a Pipe tobacco

Gentlemen.

I am a new smoker going on 5 months and on the hunt for a great tobacco, but it's getting a little out of control the amount of tobacco I am starting to collect and not liking. I need your recommendation on a tobacco that is satisfying and tastes great.

At the moment I enjoy Squadron leader which to me is mild and tasty, ( but missing something, don't know what it is though) I also like McClellan Wilderness a Very satisfying smoke but slightly over the top in smoke flavors.

What I'm looking for would be between Squadron leader and Wilderness....if that is possible. I know the tobacco conisuers on here can figure it out.

Tobacco I've tried and won't buy again, I would reconsider on the best brown (great tobacco).

Larry's blend. To light in flavour.
Samuel Gawith Best brown Flake. Great tobacco but the nicotine is to much.
Frog Morton. Mild, something is missing with this tobacco.
Chelsea morning. Not for me can't remember why, it's been a while since I've tried it - lets just say not a memorable smoke.
Solani Silver label 660. Good smoke, not to smooth not a rounded smoke for me.
Captain Earle's Honor blend. Good smoke still a little edgy not rounded tobacco flavour.
Esotrica Dorchester. I first try this tobacco when first started smoking and thought it was great tobacco reordered a tin and now I don't like it that much, too bitter for me, it does have a really nice apricot scent.
Dunhills Early morning Pipe To bitter of a tobacco flavour like dorchester great tobacco when first began smoking and now not so great for me.

I don't like aromatics, burn too hot and taste nothing like what the tin smells like and some give me a head ache.

I have tried many more but I can't remember as of right now, I'm sure your getting a feel of what direction I should be going. When I first began to smoke and now, when retrying these same tobacco my palette has changed considerably.

Greatly appreciate some recommendations on what I may be looking for.

I haven't tried Squadron Leader, but I too often feel like something is missing in Lat blends unless the oriental tobacco is in the foreground. I really like Bill Bailey's Balkan Blend, it also has a pinch of perique to add some spiciness. See if you can get that, I think you won't regret it.

I'll second GLP Westminster. It's a great tobacco. The suggestion's I have for you will take you away from the "English" side of things. I would try suggest trying Peter Stokkebye's Luxury Bullseye Flake (which you'll have to get in bulk). It's a nice introduction to VaPer's. I would also look into trying MClelland's Blackwoods Flake. It's my favorite tobacco.

Rattray's Red Rapparee(new favorite)
Magnum opus from pipesandcigars(old favorite)
frog morton on the bayou
C&D Pirate kake

Your do not buy list contains most of my favorites and vice versa so I think we are at odds in taste preference. I would suggest just blending the two you like, there's nothing wrong with that. Also some age on the ones you don't like or a different pipe could change the taste into something you like if you still have any left.

Just had my first bowl of Margate very nice taste to it, a little light but very close to what I like. It has the latakia keynote I'm looking for.

I will be purchasing some of the recommendation posted here - so please continue with what you think I would like.

Such a shame that Torben Dansk Red VA. #3 is no longer made. It's a fantastically rich mature Virginia blend with just the right amount of Latakia.

To that end, Gawith's Full Virginia Flake is very satisfying, and if you want a serious Latakia blend Smoker's Haven Krumble Kake is big and rich. Same with Esoterica's Penzance. G.L. Pease Samarra is also worth trying. Too bad Mephisto and Renaissance are defunct after the loss of Syrian Latakia stocks.
