Need Recommendation for Fall/Winter Scent

Just spent the Summer with AdP Assoluta - love the scent, but I can see it not holding up well once the weather turns cold. Any suggestions for a fall/winter scent?
Thanks -

What types of scents strike you as more fall/wintery scents that you particularly like? I think you will find a great variety of opinions as to what might be a fall/winter scent, but however that is determined, there is probably an ocean of different specific scents to recommend.

Do not worry about being confined to anything in previous threads or the upcoming wiki on this topic or as a response to questions you have! The tradition around here, as far as I can tell, is to be willing to respond anew to questions even if they have been asked previously, although there is nothing wrong with supplying links earlier threads, too.

A part of that being willing to respond anew to similar questions, of course, is to provide widely varying answers to the same question from respond to response! Some will say it is tailoring the responses to the particularly person making the inquiry, but I think it is more part of the general fun around here.

And I think of it as me personally having very little memory of what I have said in the past, and being too lazy to look up what I have said, as well as my operating under the general principle that "consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds!"

On any given day, I am likely to disagree with something I said previously, much less what someone else may have said in a thread or on the wiki!

fwiw, I picked up Angel Man from Thierry Mugler today: like it a lot, a nice spicy chocolate scent. I can see it working during the winter - so, maybe I could use a suggestion or two for something along these lines?

Probably not along the lines of Angel for Men, but no list of fall/winter colognes would be complete without a mention of the dreaded and adored Hammam Bouquet! :thumbup1:

My wife bought a bottle of Angel when it first came out in the US, so I can't really see myself wearing it. I like it when she gets dressed up, but I don't really have the urge to borrow her dresses myself. For me, Angel falls into that same category.

However, there are a lot of scents that I like to wear in Winter. Knize Ten, Creed Bois du Portugal and Vintage Tabarome, any other nice leather---there are a whole spectrum of things out there. Hope you find something good.

But that Hammam Bouquet....

I would think Burberry is a more Fall/Winter type cologne. That's what it seems to me, but could also be a night time cologne as well.

The scent of L'Occitane Eau de Vetyver reminds me of a walk on a cool fall evening in the woods, with the sweet smoky smell of burning leaves off in the distance. I like to wear it anytime, but I think some might like it more when the weather starts to get a chill in the air.

I've recently dipped my toes into the Penhaligon's Endymion. It's a very nice warm scent that seems perfect for fall/winter...

poetry: by Randy and by Occitane!

A nice vetiver variant is Agua Verde by Salvador Dali. Imagine a vetiver with fig and nutmeg notes, all perfectly blended. It works so well for all weather, but I really like it for the fall and winter. Like many vetivers it sticks close to the skin, so one does not need to worry about overapplication. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Be seeing you.
