Need more control. what brush?

I currently have a Muhle badger but I'm not sure if it's "best/fine" or "pure". What I do know is that it does absorb quite a bit of water and it fans out way too much for my preference. I'm looking for a brush that is smaller in loft and knot with a nice heavy handle. My preference is for a brush that I can control a bit more and does not fan out as much. This will allow me to do a better job of exfoliation (particularly on the jaw line and chin area) as well as better application under the nose. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You might post dimensions for your Mühle. Also do you face-lather or bowl-lather?

Even without that information I feel safe recommending a Simpson Colonel as an all-purpose brush. The handle is not exactly heavy, but does not feel cheap. The knot is large enough to hold plenty of lather, but is easy to control and does not bloom much.

What you're looking for sounds a lot like my WSP Prince in Finest. Nice firm backbone but soft tips, a knot that doesn't get crazy with "bloom," and a quality handle.

I'd also be quick to suggest a brush like my Simpson Commodore X2 for face lathering.

The Semogue Owner's Club badger is a very nice, scrubby brush, but it has a larger knot and might not make you happy.

Thanks for the comments. My brush has a 24mm knot and 54mm loft. I don't know what grade of badger. I bowl lather so a nice scritchy brush would help exfoliate.

A pure badger or even a boar hair brush might be the ticket for what you are after. Boar brushes are pretty inexpensive, so trying one out won't break the bank. There's enough boar lovers out there that you could easily sell a once or twice used brush.
