Mmm, no expert in what a slim but I would think that might be expensive and wouldn't buy it.

I think $40 for a minty slim is OK even if the case is not great....It might not be a great deal, but certainly not a bad deal either.

I agree with this. If it is high, it's not way high. I was pleased with my first Slim, a decent deal around $25 shipped, no case, no blade dispenser. It wasn't mint, but was VERY clean. Great razors BTW, even if you did buy it and pay a bit much, the amount wasted is less than a decent meal, so not really worth worrying about. Enjoy the Slim! :thumbup1:

That's not a bad price for that razor with a case. I have two very nice Slim's with cases and paid a little more then that for each of them.

$40 is quite fair for such a pristine looking Slim . . . what scares me though, is the fact that someone bought that one and he re-listed another one . . . and the pictures on the new listing look mighty similar . . .

Caveat emptor strikes again?

Hope yours arrives looking as good as the pictures!!

They were the same pictures and the same description, cracked case and all. And the other one sold for $66 shipped. So, maybe $40 wasn't such a bad deal. I just wonder which one of you is actually going to get the razor!!

over here in the uk it would be a bargain :biggrin1: they rarely come up on e bay and i can think of only 1 on line place to buy them from and without the case and replated they would cost a lot more than this from that store!

Can't stand it when a Seller uses a pic of merch. not actually for sale, and then doesn't even mention it in the fine print!

Bought a Blue Tip SS about a month ago. When it arrived, I thought whoa! I bought this? For that price?? Checking the pics, I immediately notice a different razor. Ad shows almost all paint intact (text says some paint missing). Text also says "Please view the photos on super size to really appreciate the condition of this razor." and "Please look at the pictures they say more than mere words."

The guy's first explanation was this: "The pictures are of the razor I sent. If you will notice in the description that I said the razor was in fair shape, not excellent or mint. For some reason the parts where the blue are missing did not show up well in the photos". The reason was clear. It was not the same piece. He did go on to offer a refund, but it was clearly a different razor, and he tried to lie his way out of it.

My response was "Dear 02knight12,

Not the same razor at all. Look at your pictures. Upper right corner, a 3. The razor sent has a 2. The stampings do not lie. Neither does the paint. Neither does the corrosion on the bottom of the head I suspect is pitting, where your pictures shown a relatively clean razor. NOT the same razor at all.

I've bought over 100 razors on eBay in the last 3 months, from $3 clunkers to $200+ collectors grails. I know what I'm talking about, you're not fooling this buyer. You've either made a mistake, or have openly tried to deceive. I'd prefer to believe the former unless you prove the latter.

I await the refund plus return shipping, and will ship as it was sent promptly upon word the refund is in place. Check my feedback, it is flawless.

Please inform me as to your intentions ASAP."

That response brought no less than 3 more messages, all saying things like he was sorry, he made a mistake, refund issued and please keep the razor, he hoped that would satisfy me, blah blah blah.

Do I think it was an honest mistake? No. Do I think he intentionally showed a razor in better shape than he was sending? You betcha. I've still not yet left feedback for him, still trying to resolve if I should go positive with details of his deception in the text (he did refund and told me to keep it after all), or go neutral, or still lambaste him and go negative (which is still what I think he deserves). Then again, he did do everything in his power to attempt to make it right after the fact...

Sorry for the bit if a thread hijack, but this was related and I've been wanting to post it here for weeks...

To the OP, I hope you get the razor pictured. If it's not at least as desireable as that, demand satisfaction in whatever form, and don't settle for less :thumbup1:.

Don't worry too much about the price, if it is what you want and you are not breaking the bank or giving away the kids' milk money to buy it then why not? Something that is cheap to one person is expensive to another but one thing for sure, you are the one it has to please so if you like it then the deal is okay. If you are going to actually shave with it then you could get 5 more years out of it easily so that's only $8 a year if you feel better looking at that way and you can always sell it for most of your money back, I don't see a negative here, just go later up and enjoy the thing, bc

Rick, it is stuff like that that gives the bad reputation to the rest of us honest folk, who span the full range from "hobby" seller to "full time" eBay merchant.

I hope there is a final and fitting punishment for anyone who tries that crap . . . and I really hope for the best regarding the Slim that started this thread!!

I got a fantastic slim in a lot of 7 razors off the bay for 45.00 for the lot, I think that price is a tad high

If you got what you wanted for $40 then it's a good deal. I just bought a '62 Slim for $27 without a case and it had some wear on the handle and end caps. But mechanically it's great and that's what counts. I'm sure I could have waited and gotten one cheaper, but I got what I wanted, when I wanted it, so I'm content. Love my Slim. It's become my #1 razor. Forget about the cost and just enjoy the shaves.

It's higher than the BST prices, but if you wanted it, and your happy with the price, then you got a good deal.
Merry Christmas.

+1 and then some!!

The willing buyer and the willing seller, both dealing with honesty and honor, will both come out on top regardless of price, opinions, or market conditions.

I have a real issue with the scumbags that purposely and willfully mislead, lie, cheat, and ultimately steal from the honest and trusting soul that bids on their stuff. May I never be counted among the scum!!
