Need help with shave brush - pls

Hello friends; lurker coming out with first post here...

New to the game and thinking of making my first round of purchases. Any feedback at all in particular about the shave brush would be greatly appreciated!

Here are the contenders:

EDWIN JAGGER / best badger (size medium)

Total height: 99mm
Knot size 21mm

or

SIMPSON COMMODORE X 3: / best badger:
Total Height: 100mm
Knot size: 24mm
$Edwin Jagger - best badger.jpg$Simpson Commodore X3 - best badger.jpg

I'm not overly concerned about price as I know either one will be a solid investment.

Safety razor (pretty much decided at this point based on feedback on this site)
Edwin Jagger DE Razor model: DE89BA11bl

Blades:
Astra SP

Shave soap:
TABAC in ceramic bowl

Post shave measures:

Alum block:
Ali Biyikli Cilt Sapi

After shave:
Proraso

I must admit I do have sensitive skin. Although I don't get razor bumps I can feel the sensitivity in my face hours after my shave. I don't use moisturizers as I don't like the greasy/oily feeling but I am open to any you may suggest.

Feedback on the brushes would be a great starter as I plan on ordering this first over the next few days.

Looking forward to the responses and thanks.

I can recommend the Commodore X3. Produces great lather and soft on the face. I cannot comment on the Edwin Jagger but there are numerous choices in the same price range. Simpsons have fixed the vendor prices so there may be something more competitive out there. I also like the Progress Vulfix 2235.

That exact EJ BBB was my first "real" brush. Still works fine but the brushes I've bought since leave it behind in terms of density, lather ability. I haven't tried the Commodore but it gets good press. The EJ Barley, Astras, Proraso etc are all solid performers; in fact I use the Barley shimmed for a bit of extra aggression.

If I can ask, why the Commodore out of the Simpsons?

Here's one question that would be of some help here...
Do you intend on lathering in a bowl or do you feel that you may lather directly on your face?

You would want a slightly stiffer backbone brush for face lathering which would be by accomplished by a reduced loft to diameter ratio and or with a more densely packed brush.

Welcome to the forum and i would go with the Commodore.
Also, you may want to try Unrefined Shea Butter for the irritation. Amazing stuff! i have been using it for 15 years before using DEs and when i started last October, it really helped with the irritation.
Good luck.
