Need Fast Advice

I can't help it...I see things now and think I should buy them, but I don't want to go crazy.

In the flea market today...

1. A Gillette Tech razor in its original box labeled "Not for sale" and "A gift of the Red Cross"--Excellent condition (almost like new) and the seller wanted $20. I assume this was something issued to soldiers maybe? Should I have pulled the trigger?

2. An old razor the likes of which I have not seen ever...A Wilkinson Sword in its original case, made in England. Beautiful shape. There were blades for each day of the week and the sharpener (I suppose that's what it was). The buyer seemed to think it was circa 1890. He wanted $60. I would never use it (it looked strange) but I might resell it or keep it for historical reasons. Forgive the bad cell phone pics. Should I have snatched it? I might be able to get back before closing if it's a once in a lifetime.

Don't know about the second razor, but 20 bucks is a fairly reasonable price for a Tech that is in excellent to near-mint condition.

Yea, I would have snagged the Tech just because of the box (as long as the box was decent too) as that makes the Tech a little more significant. (Not necessarily for resale, but for a collection.) offer the guy $15 and settle on $17. (I would have added it to my collection anyway, maybe a tad overpriced though.)

+1 on snagging the Tech. Don't know anything about the 2nd razor, so I can't really comment.

Okay, I'll comment anyway. Feed the RAD and get both, along with every other razor you see!:lol:

Just kidding! I'd pull the trigger on the Tech, though. I think I'd leave the 2nd razor languishing in the flea market as an orphan, though. $60 is a little rich for me.

Red Cross Tech's were given out to victims of natural disasters, fires, etc. to help them while being resettled. It's a pretty common item, $20 might be on the high side unless you really want it for your collection - you won't be making it profit reselling it.

The second razor is a wilkinsons 7 day set, a blade a day, should come with a strop, don't know about value in the usa though, but here in the uk they are always on the bay, think 60 dollars is too high, though in the states!

Thanks, I think what I need besides advice is someone to hold me back. I bought at the same flea market today a 1957 red tip super speed for $10 (great shape), but I will actually shave with that. I can see myself buying things not to use but thinking I can flip it on Ebay. I have never sold anything there and don't intend to become an Ebay merchant.

That said, the Wilkinson was really cool, really old, and in great shape in its original case.
