Need advice on a blade that acts like a vintage Schick Platinum Plus. Please recommend me 5 or so blades that you think will be close to the same performance. Thanks.

Astra Super Platinum, Shark Super Chrome, Israli personna (Crystal), Derby Extras, and Perma Sharp Russian made blades. Schick injectors are still available thru Amazon.com and probably in some local Drug stores. Drugstore.com has them also.

Can you be more specific? Which characteristics of the SPP do you need?
For example I would say that the Astra SP blades are about as sharp, but have less longevity and are a little rougher.

Gillette Bleue Extras are excellent and close to the Schick's. You can get them from Dr. Idiot on here. He is a very good vendor. Others that I would recommend are the Gillette 7 O'clock Black, Blue and yellows. They are all excellent blades.

I am also searching for a blade like the amazing Schick Platinum Plus. The closest I found so far are Timor and Gillette Platinum Black Packs.

I just ordered 10 packs of blades Timor, Gillette 7 0'clock Blacks and Blues, Kia, Bolzano, Shark SS and SC, Persona Med Prep and Labs, and Souplex. Hopefully one of these will be what I am looking for, if not I'll get ten more when they are gone, and so on and so forth until I find the perfect blade.

I have tried all on your list except Kia blades. I am sure you will have at least one keeper in that mix. I think the Gillette Black packs will probably be the closest to Schick Platinum Plus.- Thread starter

Thanks YB. Even though I have been wet shaving for the last 20 or so years, I have only used a schick injector until about a year and a half ago I started using a DE. And for the last year and a half I have mostly used a stock of Schick Platinum Plus blades my Dad gave me. With the injector my blade choices are very limited so when I started using DE I was a bit overwhelmed by all the blade choices, so I just used what my Dad gave me. I am excited to try new blades though. Hopefuly soon I will find my perfect blade.
Real nice choices there. Bolzanos are my "go-to" and are IMO awesome. With Timors and Med Preps, you wound up with some of the best blades made IMO, great combo of blades.
