Nakayama Kita

This might be the hardest Kita I have owned/used.

The Kan or Namazu (not sure which, might be both) is non invasive, so - no issues there.

I see you're buying all the 'maruka' stamped jnats from 'japanathome' on ebay. Why not post some pics of those when you get them too.

I am curious, the top looks colored but the sides look gray, what's up? Alx

Ahh - experience speaks. Good eye Alex.

The stone is sealed on the sides with something that's semi-transparent with a matte texture.
It's not Urushi, and doesn't feel like lacquer.
When I hold the stone on an angle under direct light, I can see the color of the stone through it more clearly, but it's still muted.
When its wet and not illuminated well, it sort of greys out the side. Almost like a privacy screen on a monitor.

Just a wild guess but it may have something to do with posting the source of his finds and adding 100 people for him to bid against.... Just a wild guess though my friend....

That's a well formulated guess Scott, but not correct.

Factually - inpenetrable ignorance bores me and I tend to pass over it whenever possible.
In this case, the inflammatory accusation based on an unfounded/incorrect assumption wasn't worth my time.

Ok guys Thanks for sharing with me. Your probably best to work it out by Pm if you want to. I don't want to see either of you flagged by the mods. Thanks guys I appreciate the responses.

It's not a nakayama though, well it might be but where you bought that stone is notorious for applying stamps to unmarked stones.

I have not heard anything like that about the seller of this stone in my 3 years on here and have personally known him to be extremely humble and honest. This would be news to me but I would need legitimate proof before I took any stock in it.

i agree it is.

Are the edges of the circle much harder than the center like the one I posted a while back?

Thanks Scott. No - the Kan/Namazu or whatever it is has an identical feel compared to the rest of the stone.
I always worry about pronounced patterns because they can sometimes be scratchy - so I asked Takeshi to test it for me. When it arrived I could see where he ran a few blades over it. My tests yielded the same results that he experienced.

VERY nice rock... that Kan is wild

Thanks Nick!

I suggest people looking to pick a fight over the open forums think twice.
