What's new

My first vintage razor.

Just received a Widerstrahl stright today, I bought on vintage blades llc. The etching caught my eye on the blade but after waking up "hate working night shift", went a head give the razor a try the weight felt very good compare to a dovo I have or can be the newbie inside me talking . Had a very good shave with it, other then that would like to know if any one knows history of Widerstrahl straight.

Thanks you two, yeah vintage blades llc did a very nice job on restoring this razor. I was at a debate of buying it at first, now have the bank pulling there hair out hehe...

Oh sweet, thank you for the info. I've may failed history class in high school but I sure love looking it up.

There are claims on classicshaving and rasurpur that they were made by LeGrelot, but I haven't seen any paperwork to suport those.
I had one and it was stamped Solingen, and as far as I know LeGrelot was in Thiers, France. I know that these stamps were regulated and it's quite possible that LeGrelot or whoever made them had a legal way to put Solingen on the razors, but so far we haven't seen any evidence.
Mine was a nice shaver, that's for sure.
It's different grind than Dovo, hollower and doesn't have the double stabilizer, that's why it feels and sounds different.
