My first Razor! Good deal?

Considering the condition, it's not a bad deal. However, it doesn't how much you paid for it but how it shaves your face.

Not the best deal but not the worst. Example: i got a slim myself off ebay a week ago for $15 and 3.99 shipping. Dont worry about buying the cleanest one because in all likelyhood most of the gunk will come off with proper cleaning. Now plate loss is another story. I would buy from someone who has no knowledge of vintage razors because then u know that they havent cleaned them and they also dont expect to get much for it. But i have been shaving with my slim on 9 for the last few days, and it is a machine! Youll love it. Its much better than my silvertip ss

Thanks for the info and advice! I dont even have that razor and Im looking to buy a NOS Gillette Tech...Ohhhh Shiny!!! This is going to get me in trouble! I need excuses to buy razors.

Congratulations on the first razor!

The razor looks like it's in very good condition, the advert describes it as very good.

I'm no expert, but from what I've seen you got a fair deal. If you like the razor once you start shaving with it, I'd call it good.

A "good" deal is relative. When you consider a new Fusion and 8 pack of cartridges would set you back around $45, I'd call it a great deal.

Don't go to nuts if you dont' have any blades to go with it :)
That's a decent deal... you didn't get hosed, but you didn't run away with the bank..
Adjustibles in shaver condition go for around 15 but this one is in great condition.

If you haven't pick up a sample pack of blades and get shaving!

More than I typically spend on razors, but that one is in impeccable condition, a great first razor.

You didn't get ripped off and are getting a perfect razor. You'll be happy about it.

As others are saying, it wasn't an outstanding deal, but it wasn't bad either considering the apparent condition of the razor.

No matter how low a price you get, there's a good chance you'll eventually read or hear of someone paying even less. You got a good razor, that's the main thing.

eh, I've paid more for less.
Like we've heard already here, the only thing that matters is if it gives you a great shave.
A nice shiny Slim can be resold for as much.
no worries.

Looks like it's in excellent condition; it's definitely a keeper. You would not make any money if you tried to sell it.

But who cares? You got a slim in great condition.

Im going nuts waiting for it to show in the mail! I hope its as nice in the pics when it gets here. Was it a decent deal guys?

Yes. It was decent. You didn't get hosed. It's a nice razor. After you get more experience, you can brag about the Fatboys you got for $4, and just don't mention the dozen AutoStrops that don't work, and the other junk you bought. A deal is not everything. A usable razor is the place to start.

You could have done a bit better by spending more of your life staring at a computer screen, trying to outfox other bay users. Is this a game, or is it shaving?

Don't answer that. We don't want to know.
Actually, we do know.

Yeah i think its a good deal for a first razor!!
i think a lot of the guys would admit they paid too much for their first razors but none will say they regret it - i got a first rate hosing on my #1 but glad i took the plunge!

anyway welcome aboard pal!! keep an eye out for that tech - sounds like you've got the bug!

Welcome! Not a bad first buy at all. Hope you enjoy it, because that's what counts. You get "better" at getting deals the longer you're at this, since you know what to look for and what prices are good. But you didn't get ripped off at all. I think I paid $25 for my first Slim, and there's one on the 'bay going for ~30 right now as I type. I've at times paid too much for more than my share of clunkers, as likely most guys here have too - live 'n learn. Yours is a sharp razor, though. So keep checking on the B/S/T here and on the bay and you'll get a real good feel for it soon. Enjoy that Slim- :thumbup1:

Very true, my first razor is still my most expensive at $17.50. I paid for a clean, polished, ready-to-use piece. Since then, I look for deals to restore.

Your first razor will have sentimental value always, so why not spend a little more for a nice one?

It IS a great looking piece.
