My dog is scared of the thunder.

We really don't like fireworks!
Poor, boo! I know the look. It is amazing to me that a dog can be trained out of this. It is amazing to me that a dog, whose ears have to be more sensitive mine, can be near a 12 gauge going off, and not even flinch, but that was my Lab, and was no other dog I have ever owned!
My problems are different. Sure the lightning and thunder don't bother my pups in the slightest, but they become giant princesses when it comes time to take them out in the wet grass.
I've had a few dogs but only one was afraid/disturbed by thunder -a 110lb. German Shepard. He would somehow manage to compress himself enough to fit under our bed. Once the noise stopped he couldn't get out, so we had to lift the end of a king size bed up far enough so that he could get out. He was big, scary and protective and not afraid of anything, else......
