So I got my Schick Hydro-Magic Injector the the other day as well as my Feather Artists Club SS. I was anxious to try both, having never used either. The Schick came with a pack of NOS Ever-sharp blades. I tried to load the first bade and it jammed about half way in. I loaded another which pushed the first out easily. Didn't see any rust just a bit of what looked like oily residue that balled up. Grabbed the Feather and my Mergress and headed to the shower. My plan was to make a pass with the SS on my right and left side just WTG from the sideburn area...leave the cheeks out it this time. i'd finish with the Schick. The Mergress was there in case it all went south.
Impressions: I am excited to begin using the Feather. It cleared a lot of stubble very easily and without irritation. I used a Pro-Guard blade and the idea that other blades can do more is exciting. A bit nervous and clumsy but initial apprehension has gone. I'll maintain the respect it demands and move slowly into this.
The NOS blades were a bit rough. Could be the age, could be the carbon. Could feel the tugging but continued with a WTG, XTG and ATG shave. Very smooth but not comfortable. Surprisingly, no irritation but on my neck The Schick is very intuitive. I can see this being a great shaver. I am hoping it was the blades and look forward to receiving the Chicks to try out. Mergress never came to the party today. I could of sworn I saw a tear.
