My $5 find

I swung into a local antique shop out in the sticks today on a whim and found this sitting on a shelf with a $5 tag on it. I figured what the heck. Any idea what model and what era this could be from? When I disassembled it later on I noticed that the threads were boogered up. The PO put a small piece of aluminum foil on the threads to help hold it tight. It's fully functional but is there any way to repair this or will I have to find a replacement head? Let me know what you think. $2012-12-28_14-27-50_870.jpg$2012-12-28_14-28-02_678.jpg$2012-12-28_14-28-10_188.jpg$2012-12-28_14-28-18_598.jpg$2012-12-28_14-28-59_11.jpg

Post war Gillette ball end Tech

Does it have a date code on the bottom of the lower head piece? Would be a number and letter (one on either side)

id just find another top plate.there are a ton of these techs around.you could also just use it w/the foil.cool score btw

I don't see any codes stamped on it. I do see "Pat. Off." on the underside of the head.

I'll get it cleaned up this weekend and take it for a spin.

I have the same one. Date range '46 to '49 or thereabouts. I was lucky enough to find one with a box. Now shave with it! It's super mild.

Figure out which part is worn and post that info. If I do not have yours part in my spare parts box I'm sure someone will. If I have your part, it's your for the asking.

Oh and welcome to B&B cmyoch.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the offer for parts. I'd be looking for the head with good threads if there is one in your parts cache. Otherwise, the foil in the threads holds tight and is not noticeable. This razor cleaned up nice and cannot wait to see how it works. So far my two favorites are my bakelite Schick injector and my GEM SE.
