I was happy to see a little package containing my new puck of MWF on my door step today from FedEx. Excited as a B&B member in WestCoastShaving.com's distribution center, I hurried to finish my errands to get to the end of the day, where I could slow down, put on my radio, and shave my face with my sweet and savory Dovo Black Star, a nice soft badger brush from AOS, a Georgetown pottery scuttle, and of course, a brand new puck of MWF.
Things went well, my razor cut my beard well, my brush massaged and lifted the hairs, my scuttle provided piping-heat, however my lather was lacking... the lather I achieved with my new puck was
a C+ at best. Wa wa what? How could it not be an amazing, life chaining, experience of nirvana?! its MWF for Pete's sake!
Gentlemen, I have forgotten how to lather MWF.
It has been approx. 1 year sense I have lathered any shaving soap for that matter.... I was using cartridge cutlery to clean up my face with a 10$ vitamin cottage boar and some dollar store creme, but I have seen the light once again Badgers... oh yes... I looked up towards the fluorescent bulbs above my mirror and declared "NO MORE!" No more shall I irritate my face with four unnecessary blades... No more shall I slather second rate slime onto my face for shaving. "Wool Fat!" I declared.... This is where I make my face seen and wear it proudly! This is where I inhale the enlightening aroma of a triple milled tallow!
MWF is my savior of the shavior, but my lather eludes me.
It is much different lathering The Body Shop Maca Root cream and Taylor of old Bond Street cream, and even Tabac lathers in a different manner than MWF.
I want to re-master my MWF lathering skills, gain back my straight shave serenity and I need your help!
How would you describe the manner in which YOU lather your MWF? How does that compare to Tabac? or a cream? Does your MWF favor a certain brush over another? How thirsty is MWF vs. Tabac or a cream? how much do you load your brush of choice for lathering? and how does this change your lathering method with Your MWF?
