Well, I've been using MWF for a while now and after all I'd read, I'd used it exclusively with my C&E boar until this morning. Today I tried my Klenzo restored with Silvertip and I whipped up more lather and in much less time than the boar, for sure. IMHO while the boar has the ability to dig deeper into the soap, using water judiciously with a silvertip (wet it, don't soak it) keeps the knot stiffer (although admittedly not as stiff as a boar brush). The difference is that the Silvertip can whip and hold MUCH more lather than the boar and doesn't need as much soap to do it. So, although learned minds will differ, I have found that it is indeed the stingy use of water (little at a time) and a silvertip that gives optimal results with MWF.
Try just darting the silvertip under the tap a couple of times and then go at it.
