Music to Shave By

Anyone play music while they shave? Been thinking of bringing in my smartphone and playing a little something. A little worried about hiding the lovely blade-removing-whiskers sound (feedback), but thinking some tunes to shave by might be enjoyable. I was thinking some Italian opera might be nice.

What do you listen to, if anything?

I use my smart phone all the time to listen to music. I've even got to the point I can wear ear buds without getting them wet or full of lather. Typically I'll listen to bluegrass, zydeco, blues, jazz, jam bands (Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, etc), classical, new age, or rock. I guess I jump around quite a bit, eh?

Depends on the mood of the day, I jump around a bit too. Today was Black Sabbath-S/T, but it's usually instrumental, from Bruno Nicolai to Sonny Clark to dub to funk/soul. Never loud enough to drown out the sound of the blade hitting the whiskers though!

We have a very similar playlist!

I use my iphone and a docking station. This morning I just connected to Pandora and listened to my Widespread Panic Station (WSP, Phish, Dead, Govt Mule etc.) but yesterday morning I was listening to the Buena Vista Social Club album, last Staurday it was my Pandora Blues station. I do sometimes shave with only the sound of my whiskers being removed but I prefer music.

I listen to "the sound of shaving." It's music to my ears.

Excellent choices! I bet you'd enjoy enjoy listening to Ali Farka Toure & Ry Cooder. It's very relaxing music to accompany your shave.

Pandora is always on while I shave. My stations usually include John Coltrane, Motown, Led Zeppelin, Frank Sinatra, and Ella Fitzgerald. Every once in a while I'll feel like shaving to Massive Attack, Gui Boratto, or even some Orbital. Depends on my mood.

I normally shave in the morning before work while listening to either WBGO, a jazz station out of Newark NJ or to WKCR, Columbia University's radio station which plays only jazz at that time of day. I end that this music relaxes me and that I am less likely to cut myself. Both are available online and you can stream then through your smartphone.

Evidently, B&B members have great taste in music!
Indeed they do. I'm going to build some playlists (still leaning toward arias; watched old move, Diva, the other night) and Pandora stations (thinking mel torme and chet baker[west coast jazz/west coast shaving]).

Thanks guys!

I'd avoid this one, but note Cat Stevens on drums and a young, poorly shaved Mantic on lead vocals.

I wake up shower and shave to classical. (Not loud enough to wake the sleeping wife or kids) Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, or maybe Copeland.

I used to be a rocker, through and through, but I also used to shave with a mach 3! I once chugged beer after beer at my frat house, but now I enjoy tasting a good scotch and smoking my favorite pipe.

What can I say, age mellows a man.

This was the soundtrack to my last straight shave. Nice, slow, and smooth.
