What's new

Most Exciting.

In the world of fountain pens and related stuff, in your opinion what has been the most exciting new product (fountain pen, ink, accessory) that has appeared in the last few months?

J Herbin 1670. Trying to hunt some down and then finally getting it was exciting. Not the best ink in the world IMO but was much anticipated.

The Pilot metro.

Not for breakthrough technology nor beauty. Here's why I think it's significant:
A) If Pilot is investing in an entry-level pen of that quality it's an indicator that they they think fountain pens have growth potential, so they are making the cost less of a barrier to entry.
B) It may put pressure on the prices of competitive pens.

Could I just go out on a limb and say Noodler's Inks? They seem to have opened up a world of writing to many people. They have a wide variety of colors, and cost to product quantity is excellent. I know there have been many makers out there, but Noodler's is often mentioned for inks.

The Edison Pneumatic....what's old is new again and done just right. As if we expected anything less from Brian Gray.

The all new Nib Wiki 2.0, lol but only cause I'm a shameless self promoter

By this statement I don't mean I did it alone btw

These are both excellent points.

I've got to give my nod to the Pilot Metropolitan - decent metal bodied pen with a converter and nice box for $15 is going to get FPs into the hands of lots of newbies.

Getting more people using FPs is good for all of us interested in the hobby, as it creates a larger market for all FP-related products.

Quality entry level pens are to our hobby as the Model T was to the car.

All of the items listed above are excellent products and worthy of mention, but the one that's most interesting and intriguing to me is the Edison Pneumatic Filler pens. As a happy owner of a Edison with a C/C filler, I would definitely love to get my hands on an Edison pneumatic.

"Exciting" might be putting it too strongly, but as others have said, the Edison Pneumatic is the most interesting design I've seen mentioned recently. The price is far outside the range that I would choose to afford, but I hope he does well with it.
