Most Cost-effective Merkur DE

I have used several (non-adjustable) Merkurs, and IMHO, the 1904 open-comb I believe to be the most cost effective. A light and maneuverable DE that produces a close shave. It can be found for $25 brand new.

Any other thoughts?

I guess I have to go with the 33c. Priced at $26.50

I like the longer handles. This is why I do not own a ball end tech or the Merkur Classic.

IMHO the 33c is where it is at if you have a tight budget. I received some of the best shaves while using the 33c......until I met the DE89

I don't have the 1904 but do have the 15C which has the same head. Great razor. Very affordable. The 33C has the same head as the HD so it's not surprising that it gets alot of attention. I plan on getting one.

How aggressive is the shave with the 1904 Open Comb? That was almost my first DE but I changed my mind and went with a DE89.

I also have the 15C and it does indeed provide a nice close shave. A little more money but the 2 piece design is a little more convenient.

Nope, I think you've got just about the best DE out there, IMHO.

I've tried over 12 DE's, and the 1904's, I have both the open comb and the safety bar, have been the best for me. Of course there's no getting around the YMMV, but I've found my go to DE's.

Merkur 23C at Atlanta Barber and Beauty Supply for $21.95. They also carry Pinaud Clubman and many other after shaves.

I have the 33c which gives great shaves. I have not used it since getting the Futur though. But I will hang on to it for a while just in case

How does anyone else make any suggestion without quoting prices?

I've got a 1904 and a 23C, sometimes I feel like using an open comb razor, and sometimes I don't! Both give me good shaves.

The only Merkur I might buy again if it got lost is the 25C. Overhere about the same price as the 1904's.
