Modular paddle strop from SRD

Guys what do you know about the modular paddle strop from straight razor designs? for me looks good but don't know if the magnetic pads attach firm enough to the paddle? I'm thinking to buy one but that's my only concern, thanks in advance.

You have to be careful ... I had a similarly configured bench hone. Pads backed with magnets attached to the bench hone. Unfortunately, it was easy for the pads to become less than perfectly flat, rendering them useless for razors.

I plan to stay away from similar products.

Thanks a lot guys, maybe for the bench hone doesn't work because of the more pressure issue, one of the thing that i like is the retouch possibility with the pastes and the diamond spray on the hard wool.

I use one and there is no problem with the pads moving. I have one wool pad for Diamond Spray and one for CrOx. The pads work well as a finisher or for touchups.

If I were after a paddle strop for daily use, I'd go with one of these. The other pictures show a great attention to detail.

Hey professor that's a beauty of a paddle, but the reason I'm looking for the modular is to have other surface to cover with some pastes.

Gotcha! Tony Miller used to make them ... I have been using one of his two sided pasted paddles for years. I also had his four sided pasted paddle, which I sold and lamented soon thereafter.

Have you considered the TI four sided paddle?

I don't have anything against the modular paddle strop per se. Rather my experience with something similar wasn't all that great.

Just got one of these in today from BST. It's a real well built unit and seems to work real well.

Yes Sir, sure did.

i had been teetering over the PM button for quite a bit, and just couldn't pull the trigger! i am waiting for a big loom strop to appear on the BST

nice, i'd love to hear how it feels, never stropped on a paddle before

This was my first paddle strop. I did a razor tonight and gave it a go. Used it with .50 diamond, switched to .25 diamond then the scrub leather. From there it went to the plain leather. The HHT was quite nice and I expect the resulting shave to be very good.

I've scoured The Invisible Edge website and can't find this paddle strop.. Any chance you can share a link to it?

This meets my needs better than any other options...

edit....Found it...

I have been wanting to design and build a high quality loom strop for a while now, but I can't find a good source for high quality stropping leather. Would like to get my hands on 3" wide cordovan strips 24"+ long.

The SRD modular paddle is a very well made product that works exactly as expected. You should not be disappointed.

The bridal leather finishes really well and I also have felt with CrOx, 0.5 and 0.25 diamond.
