Ming Shi razor from shavefactory

Hi all,

Just purchased a Ming Shi razor with 100 DE blades from shavefactory.com. Haven't found too much about it. I read somewhere that Mantic was supposed to review it but haven't found anything. Any personal experiences with the razor? Thanks!

I have owned two Ming Shi's. Found them to give a nice quality shave, about the same level of aggressiveness as a Vintage Superspeed.

The build quality is of course not equal to that of a vintage Superspeed, but that is to be expected.

For the price, it is perfectly fine as a budget level razor to get your feet wet in this hobby.

Just a little bit of an unrelated question. Is the writing on your blade packages parallel to the wide part of the box or narrow part? (The individual 5 blade packs)

He wants to know if you have the horizontal Derby's:

or the vertical Derby's:

The vertical Derby blades are newer stock than the horizontals, and seem to be suffering from quality control issues, with quite a few of the blades giving rough shaves.

I figured it's a pretty good deal to get 100 blades and a razor for under 25 bucks plus free shipping. I'm glad to hear that people have found it to be fitting especially for a newbie such as myself.

I haven't received the package yet, it just shipped today but I will let you know once it comes in!

Just got the package in today and tried it out. The blades came in the vertical package. Popped one in the razor and shaved away. Shave overall felt good, better than before but I was using a dulled blade. Nicked myself once but that might be because of inexperience rather than the blades themselves. Have yet to try the Ming Shi razor but it looks nice basically a Gillette Speed shaver clone. Had a nice weight to it but have yet to use it. Hope that answers your questions!
