I have been a member since August 2010 and have appreciated the help received from members, posts and faqs. I have learned a lot and know I have to continue to improve my shaving and lather techniques.
I have worked through a blade sampler and settled on 5 brands (Astra SS, SP, 7 o'clock greens and bluebirds)checked out a few soaps and settled on VDH.
I even splurged with a DB 1.5 scuttle!
I consistently get at least a DFS and BBS happens frequently.
My desire was to get close and comfortable shaves. Mission accomplished!
At this point I do not want to try anymore blades, soaps, razors, brushes, or aftershaves. It is not that I think I have achieved perfection(if that is even achievable) or that my shaving den can't be improved upon but rather this set up works for me. For example I did not try Feather blades because the previously listed blades work great for me. If Feathers worked even better so what? I am giving them to my son-in-law who I am trying to win over to DE shaving. I think hanging around on this board will just lead to various ADs and trying out endless combinations will only mean many less than quality shaves. In fact one recommendation to newbies from me would be to buy small blade samplers, trying out 20 or more brands is very daunting if you do anywhere close to a thorough job of testing. Other than that if you are a newbie go for it! I am glad I did.
So this is probably my last post.
Thanks to all.
Merry Christmas and Adios!
