Merkur vision

What do you guys think of the vision?
its priced in the stainless steel razor category. I like its design over the future.

Turtle has both Futur and Vision sure he will answer this with pics and specs shortly!!

Hey Turtle it wasnt me that snuck in and bought the Joris :001_rolle

I like mine. So much so that I have to keep it out of the shave den otherwise I would never use any of my other razors... Yea, it is that nice.

They through out all the concepts of a DE razor when they designed it and came up with something that looks like a freight train but handles like a Porsche.

I have not found another razor that gives me the consistently close comfortable shaves that the Vision does.

Though it "looks" big and heavy, it is not much different than the Merkur Futur razor

I've had, I believe, 3 visions in the past and have sold them each time. I still have my futur. In terms of shave quality the vision is awesome but they are a royal pain to maintain IMO. The ones I've had would suffer from the same problem, you'd turn the adjustment knob and it would just spin freely without adjusting the gap. The solution was to COMPLETELY disassemble the razor and clean all the parts and it was a nightmare to get back together right. When I say completely I mean down to all individual parts not the quick way merkur shows you to take it apart. The older visions actually required a very tiny allen wrench for full disassembly.

The last vision 2000 I got had issues right out of the box - scratches on the finish and on the lower end of the adjustment range the blade would sink way below the safety bar. Merkur has told me that this is an intentional design change to be able to safely keep the blade from being exposed for travel or whatnot but I think it limits the range of adjustment as compared to older models I've used.

The futur, on the other hand, is built like a tank and takes all of 10 seconds to disassemble and reassemble and with no tools required. Most who have tried both agree that the vision shaves slightly better but not really worth the added headache.
