Sadly, it appears to be real.
This handle has been posted before.
Seems to me to be a sort of a reach out to the "Transformers" / "G.I. Joe" crowd.

Don't know if it is the consumers they were aiming for or not but it seems to me it would be a good design for anyone with a hand injury. I have three herniated cervical discs that have left me with some nerve damage in my right arm. I have difficulty gripping things sometimes, and also I get the shakes in my right hand pretty bad. If they could figure out a way to put a slant head on that big fat handle I know I'd get one.

a few of the vendors here carry that model. It's a bit of an ugly duckling for sure, but someone did enough research to warrant making the thing. As far as getting a slant head on there, I am sure any of the guys doing handles here would be able to get that done. auk1124, there are many talented people on these forums. If you needed custom work done I am sure any of them would be willing. The cost would probably come out to be the same or close.

Some of the vintage slants are 3 piece tech style opposed to the spindle style. One of these heads would fit onto this handle. Some effort on your part.
