What's new

Merkur 180 arrived today. :

I just started with double edged razors. I've been using the Feather Double-Edge Razor by Jatai since it was cheap to start out with.

While I got good results, I found myself starting to use too much manual pressure as the razor is plastic and therefore very light.

So, I got the Merkur 180 from amazon for $33 shipped. :biggrin1: I like the weight and I hope it's a bit more aggressive compared to the Jatai razor.

I'll shave with it and a new blade tomorrow.

Cool, good luck! Personally, I cannot bring myself to buy a new razor when vintage ones work just fine for me. I shave with a 1906 Single Ring every day, and I love it. Glad to see that you've joined the single blade club!

Welcome to the world of DE razor shaving. The head is the same as the 34C and it should give you some excellent shaves.

Sir you have excellent taste in razors the 180 head is my most used razor in the stable you will receive many BBS shaves once you get the angle down. Congrats on this fine purchase. If you pair that razor head with a Weber Bulldog handle you will have a perfect razor.

I just got the same one for my first DE razor. I'm very impressed, and it seems like a high quality tool that will work as long as I need it too

Excellent choice! That was my first razor and did a fine job. After getting familiar with it I decided I wanted a bit bigger handle and bought the Ej89 barely chrome which to me shaves similar and is heavier. Welcome to de shaving Dean!
