Merkur 11c question

This has probably been asked and answered before, but "11c" is too short to be a searchable term.

I love my 34c, and I love OC razors. The FaTip Piccolo is one of my most favorite razors. Somehow, I have managed to remain ignorant until now of the fact that there is (was) an OC version of the 34c. Seems like a no-brainer, but it's EXPENSIVE so I wanted to check with the B&B brain trust: How does it shave? Specifically, how does it compare to the 34c and to other OCs? Relatedly, how does it compare to Merkur's travel OC, which I've also had my eye on?

Thanks!

I found it to be very mild and sold it. If I remember correctly, it looks/performs the same as the travel head.

I have one but haven't used it in a while. I'd agree with Mike though, seems pretty mild to me, definitely milder than my Gillette New short comb.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like its not worth it for me if it is so mild. I find the NEW to be pretty optimal in terms of mildness for an OC, and don't see the need to add a milder razor.

I find it to be a very solid razor and quite like the shave. I have been looking for a vintage 2 piece for a while now because I like it so much. I did not like the 1904 at all and personally felt they shaved nothing alike. In all fairness, I truly cannot see any difference in an 11c head versus the 1904 head other than one is chrome(11c) and the other nickel(1904). Contours appear identical, so go figure and YMMV et al.

I use both the Fatip Grande and the Merkur 11c. The Merkur is very mild when compared with the Fatip. I'm not sure if you will notice any difference between a 34c and a 11c.

The 11c is milder than the 34c, and feel different from the 1904 OC due to handle weight and such, since they have really the same head on them.

If you never really have any need/want for a mild shaving razor, then I'd say for sure the Merkur OC (any of them, they are all the same head design) isn't anything you'd like. For myself, I find them easy and effective to shave with on the days I'm looking for mild and easy.

+1 It is much milder than the 34C.

I like the heft and looks of the 34c, and was hoping that the 11c would be a more aggressive version of the 34c. Otherwise in happy with my 34c.
