Lee gave me the choice of a mergress or the XL. I'm not sure which way to go here. I love the size and heft of my futur. Any one who has both please let me know if you had to pick one, which one would you keep thanks
Mergress or mergress XL

I had a Progress which I liked just fine - a great razor. After finding out about the Mergress option, I had Eric convert it to a Mergress with a long knob and its one of my top three razors. I don't see the need for the XL as I think this set-up is the right balance between length, weight and size. Lee's a pretty good guy to work with and you should ask him if this option is available. I think you'll find that it is. Good luck.

I just shaved with my regular length mergress for the first time today. It's an amazing shave. I felt like the weight was just right even without the extra length. I have a feeling you won't have many regrets either way.
Have the normal progress and the XL, both give me great shaves, the XL is about as heavy as I would go but since I don't have the long version mergress I can't know if that would have suited me better.
I have the shorter (regular) Mergress, but have not tried the XL (sorry). One big consideration for me would be the grip - I really like the balance with my pinky under the tip of the handle. I don't think I could do that with the XL.
I can get with my pinky under the tip of the handle but non the less have decided that the XL won't stay in my den, my wife was in the bathroom today when I shaved, she likes razors and often looks on when I shave (and is always on the lookout for vintage razors for me). After I was done she said "this one will go in the future, I can see it by the way you shave with it" and that made me think.
I have both, and rotate usage based solely on whim... Both do a fine job. The shorter is a bit more adroit under the nose, though the XL can do the jopb with a bit of caution.

I have the XL version. When I first got it it did seem a bit hefty in comparison to my main razor, a Fatboy. However you adapt accordingly.
Now, the XL has deposed my Fatboy as my main razor.
If you like your Futur then you'll have no problems adapting to the Mergress XL. In fact the XL's head will be easier to manoeuver in those awakward places under your nose etc.

Guys thanks for the input, I'm going with an XL, it's a tuff choice but I'm sure ill love it.
I believe the XL and the Long Handle are the same length, the XL is built on the short handle Progress with the long knob making up the difference.
