I spotted an auction for a shaving kit which included a new in the box old stock Williams menthol scented soap and I was wondering if anyone that has used it in the past can comment on the scent. The current offering does not agree with me scent wise.

I assume the soap is vintage - as in REALLY old. (Do they still make Menthol Wms?)
Anyway - my old stuff has no scent at all - I recall a couple of other gents here with the same observation on theirs.

I don't know the exact cutoff date, but I would say they haven't made Menthol Williams in at least 10 years.
All of my Vintage Williams smells the same: it is devoid of any scent except for a generic soapy scent I have come to associate with tallow.
My Vintage Williams Menthol puck also smells the same way.
I would snatch that auction up, the Menthol pucks are quite a bit more rare than the regular Vintage Williams pucks.
I just received in the mail yesterday a puck of Williams Menthol wrapped in the paper, and in the box. As has been stated, I don't smell anything other than a soapy smell from it. I assume the menthol long ago vanished from it. I got this from a member on another forum who had it up for sale. I just wanted to have it as a collectable. I rarely ever see them new in the box like that.
