Meal Prep

How are you folks planning out your meals for the week and making them?

I use to spend most of my Sunday in the kitchen cooking my meals ahead of time. Some weeks I keep beef out, minimal or 2-3 times a day, depending on what my trainer wants. Chicken is always in and fish is moderate if I'm trying to put on weight and turkey is a substitute for my beef meals. But by Friday, my fish was well....fishy, chicken was too tough as was the beef.

So I went to Sunday and Wednesday cooking and now for the past few months I just cook everything for the next day the night before. It is much tastier and especially my evening meals are always fresh since I'll eat 2-3 meals in the evening.

Here is a meal plan for a recent business trip I went on. Pre cooked the frozen.

Typical meal is steak/pork/chicken with rice, yams, potatoes. I cook enough for dinner and the next lunch at night. for example steak and yams with a salad or veggies. i will cook 2 steaks and a few yams. divide the first steak into 2 meals at night spaced a few hours apart with yams. and eat the rest for lunch the next day. breakfast is usually oatmeal and a protein shake if in a hurry or eggs if not. 2 more protein shakes come post workout in mid-afternoon and before bed. its simple and requires little planning ahead.

I always try my best to prepare day before..though sometimes I get caught "off guard" and just get creative with what's in the fridge....regards to my workout regime..I never had a trainer disagree with what I do..so..thats me..twice a year Costco run...fill freezer n fridge..with about half in freezer..almost half in fridge

My meal prep starts at Costco. Literally the greatest store on earth. For the most part I eat grilled (or baked) chicken, and a green such as asparagus, broccoli, peas or peppers, whatever.

I typically buy 2 packs of chicken at Costco (about $22 a piece) and each container contains two 8(ish) ounce chicken breasts so that's potentially 4 meals per pack and freeze the rest. I fillet these breasts in half and marinate in a BBQ or Jerk or whatever sauce, tinfoil it up and throw it in the fridge till I eat it. I will just saute a green in soy sauce while grilling one the breasts.

From the time I decide to eat to the time I'm actually eating it's about 15-20 minutes. Only beat is that I'm in consulting and am traveling a ton right now so my habits get thrown around big time.
