MdC Scent?

Matt, I read lavender, rosemary and mint. When I initially got my sample of Garry's, I noticed a mild lavender. After it sat for a bit unclosed (didn't put it in a proper container), I got the scent of sweet hay - very nice. Now, after several weeks, I get almost no scent. Lesson learned - get it or put it in a container that can be closed!

i think you may have to get some to find out as most gents have different interpretations. There is a lavender aroma to it, but YMMV.

You are probably right. I was going off memory.

I bought the MdC in the wooden bowl and it is open all the time, either on my counter or in my soap drawer. The scent hasn't disappeared, and I've owned it since 4/30/2012. For me, I pick up a mild lavendar and it is very pleasant. At first, I was unsure, but after using it for several days, I fell in love. It's one of my favorites.

The website says it is peppermint, rosemary, and eucalyptus.

That's what I smell. Maybe a hint of lavender. It's a fairly sharp scent. If Provençal farmers tried to make a gentle tear-gas, this is what they'd come up with. I enjoy the scent because it's very natural.

I am apparently the only one who does not like the scent. To me, it is a strong rosemary with a bit of sage or mint. My reaction every time I opened my jar was, "this would be terrific on lamb." But the scent was too strong for me. YMMV.

Many years ago my wife made fancy soaps out of goats milk (we had goats at the time and used their milk) and used essential oils in them. The woman knows her scents. Earlier this year, she was sitting in the kitchen about 8 feet away from me working on her laptop when I opened my first jar of MdC. After about three seconds she looked up and said "Lavender" and then went back to her email.

Also Spracht SWMBO.

For me it is a soapy Fougère (fern like) scent with a hint of lavender - I like it. It does seem to last a bit longer than Harris or Trumper soaps (where the scent seems to fade quickly after lathering).

It smells like lavender to my sniffer. Mild smelling & quite pleasant. I'm 4 shaves into a sample from Garry. My first shave, I wasn't sure if I liked the scent or not as I'm not a big lavender fan. The smell has grown on me! 4 shaves in, MdC has quickly become my new favorite thing. I will be buying a bowl and also a traveler to rotate with my Castle Forbes Cedar & Sandalwood. I recommend a sample from Garry if you can swing it.
