What's new

McHales Navy fans?

McHales Navy comes on local, over the air, (Atlanta) TV (RTV) every week day at 11:30 AM. It is very funny and I enjoy it whenever I can.

RTV can now be seen in Atlanta, Seattle, Orlando, Buffalo, Eugene, Myrtle Beach, Spokane, Detroit, St. Louis, and beyond. There are many good shows to watch on RTV. Here is a link to their website.

I also like to watch Leave it to Beaver, and The Rockford Files.

When I a kid, TBS (then WTCG in Atlanta pre-Ted Turner) showed it along with F-Troop, Gilligan's Island, Gomer Pyle, and Hogan's Heroes.

I liked both the movie and the TV series. I've always felt Tim Conway was a comedic genius....especially when paired with Don Knotts. I never could understand why it took Carol Burnett so long to make him a regular!

I haven't seen the show yet but I noticed the show airs on RTV, maybe I'll check it out.

P.S. RTV is great, I saw an old "Hai Karate" commercial after watching A-Team the other day.
EDIT: RTV is actually called "RTN" here in AZ.

I loved the show when I was a kid. I haven't seen the show in over 30 years, but have seen bits of the movies on AMC.

Anybody notice how Gavin McLeod later became a captain, but of The Love Boat?

McHale's Navy saved my dad's life.

He was ~12 years old. It was right around the 4th of July, and he had been shooting off fireworks with 3 other kids from the neighborhood. They ran out of fireworks, and two of the kids decided they wanted to go get ice cream. My dad and the other kid decided to go home to watch McHale's Navy instead.

The two boys who went for ice cream were murdered later that night as they walked through a park on their way back home. One was shot 11 times and the other 8. Their bodies were found the next morning by a kid on his paper route.

It was a bizarre and highly unusual crime with seemingly no motive, and it rocked the city of Detroit at the time. A massive investigation ensued, but the killer was never found.

What is RTV (RTN)? From the comment, it sounds like an oldies network, something I'd really like. Wonder if I can get it? I have Dish Network 250....my TV wish-list is made up of one request: that satellite viewers be allowed to choose the stations they want...and pay just for them.
On Dish, to get the really good stations (NatGeo, History International, etc) one has to choose the 250 station option. Out of those 250, I watch <12. Who needs 3-4 news networks, shopping channels, soap operas & game shows.....

What a chilling story. Just goes to show how a tiny thing--a simple choice--can affect so much.

Yes, it is also called RTN. And it stands for Retro Television Network (or Retro TV). Here is a link to a webpage that shows the affiliate stations.

I don't know if this is available on the satellite services. If not, it couldn't hurt to request it...
