Many Shaves - Blade/Razor Review

Hey All,

So I have done quite a few shaves since I received my kit. I wanted to post a quick update on what I think of it now. Everything is going really well. I picked up an Edwin Jagger razor that came stock with Derby Blades. I picked up some Proraso Menthol Soap along with a badger and boar brush. I also have some Taylor of Old Bond Street regular scent cream. I picked up a sampler pack of blades that includes merkur blades, persona, and feather along with some other types that I have not tried.

1. Edwin Jagger - the razor is exactly what I read about before purchasing! It's amazing and I glides right across my face. If you are beginner looking to save a bit of money, this is a great choice!
2. Blades: I tried the feathers, derby, and persona blades and all in all I love the Derby blades! They seemed to give me the closest and best shave as of right now. Granted I am still working on my technique as I find myself doing more passes then I should.
3. Proraso soap; it's amazing. I love the scent along with the feel of it while shaving. It lathers relatively well. It is better with the badger brush though. Maybe because it is a softer brush than the boar.
4. Taylor cream - it's definitely a great cream and I have no updates or complaints about this. It's really good.
5. Brushes - As I stated I originally bought a Parker Badger brush and it works great! I picked up a $5 VSH (I think) brush from Bed, Bath and Beyond and it's also really good.

All in all, my main update would be the blades. Everyone talks about the feather blades in an Edwin Jagger. Although it was a good shave, I felt like my skin/hair took better to the Derby blades.

Good luck everyone!

Good to hear. The EJ and the Proraso are both solid performers. It'd be fun to hear what you think about the Merkur blades.

Yea there were a couple packs of random blades that I didn't see too many reviews on. How do you think they perform?
