Making my own Sea Buckthorn A/S balm

I really like this stuff and was wondering how well it would work to combine some Sea Buckthorn (SB) essential oil, with, say, something like Nivea unscented A/S balm.

What do you think, or would another base work better with the SB oil ?

Maybe an Aloe balm.

thanks

I don't really know, it probably wouldn't work too well. I don't know what Nivea is using as an emulsifier, perhaps ceteth-10. I saw two different ingredient lists on the net so you never know exactly what's in the product and at what percentages.

For instance there is Vitamin E acetate in Nivea I believe and this mixes better than pure vitamin E oil, the acetate is a thinner liquid I believe with better mixing properties. In your case you would be introducing a thicker oil so probably would not mix as well.

Plus you have to keep in mind that heat and mixing (stirring) is applied in making a lot of these products come together.

I've always thought Waleda is rather expensive but they do make several Sea Buckthorn products probably more suitable for putting on at night before bed. You might want to just buy some Waleda and use that at night. Woops, spelled Weleda!

Maybe someone will come a long with more experience in evaluating these things when you try to add something to an existing product.
