Make your own shave soap

Has anyone tried making their own soap? I have had made some cold process soap before and had great results, and was wondering if anyone has tried this with shave soap?

Would anyone be interested in purchasing the extras as one batch makes about 1-3lbs. I think 3 lbs of shave soap would last me a lifetime, lol. I could get 4oz pucks out the door for like $8-10 depending on my final list of ingredients and how many different fragrances I would need (bulk is cheaper). All the ingredients would be natural of course.

Quite a few members here are professional soap makers and have established business with a pretty good name.

Selling cold process soap incurs some risk to both seller and buyer as it is possible to get the alkalinity off and give someone skin problems.

A lot of us do putter around with soap making, both cold process and melt and pour but not in any kind of way which could be construed as turning vendor.

To sell anything you made in a one off process as opposed to becoming a soap maker and vendor, you'd have to sell it in the BST, which means a lot more posts yet and the requisite time as a member.

You could always make it, try it and if it turns out well, let the rest of the batch sit and age till you met the BST guidlines for a sale.

I didn't realize we had a lot of professional soap makers. If I made a really small batch for myself I wouldn't save any money over buying professional soaps, but then again, its fun anyway. I don't want to be a vendor as I'm moving off to college soon and don't have the time to invest myself in a business, and I make really good money doing photography and graphics editing on the side alone. I just like to try a little bit of everything, that's why I'm here.

You'll fit right in here, as I said a lot of us do it now and again as a hobby kind of thing.
It certainly isn't really cheaper than buying soap but it's a heck of a lot more fun.

Make your own shaving soap, I do and I love it. If it doesn't work well as shaving soap you'll have plenty for the shower and laundry at school.

my wife and I are going to attempt to create a small biz out of soap making. we've got materials on the way. I will let all know how it goes and where to buy if you're interested.
