Magnifying glass

Hello there.

How important would you consider having a magnifying glass while learning to hone and how strong should it be to be able to see anything? is 10x enough?

I think 30x is more recommended. I find mine especially useful for establishing a bevel on a razor as this is the most important part.

I use it on every razor to make sure the bevel is there before continuing on my honing progression towards finishing. I don't check again till after my finisher, but don't find it especially useful at this point. Once you have the bevel set, polishing the edge to finishing is the easy part.
