What's new

Love for the Merkur HD

I've been wet shaving for about a year and a half and my first razor was a HD. Recently, I've been using my vintage razors and loving them. Today, I shaved with my HD and had a BBS. I'm looking to purchase a EJ 89L soon. I had a Muhle r89 and sold it. Sorry I did that! Anyway, when I get my EJ and my HD, they will definitely remain in my rotation! Anybody have a EJ they want to sell?

I own the HD and just purchased the longer handle model (Barber Pole) to see which one I like better.

I do like the HD though, but unless I try something different, I'll not know which fits me best.

I will bet that you will like them both! I do!

I have the long handled version , 38c , and it gives me the best shaves out of any of my razors aquired thus far.

I just received the "Barber Pole" this afternoon.

Will not use it until the morning, but I can tell immediately that I like the extra handle length and weight.

Will know for sure at about 7am tomorrow morning.

I've had my HD for about 3 weeks and IMHO this razor offers the greatest value of most D/E razors. The razor is engineered painstakingly to offer the greatest value between function/form. It ain't the sexiest beast in terms of looks, but what it lacks in looks this titan of razors makes up in quality of shave vs. the price you pay. Now, with all icons in their class, people start to grumble, and yes, they seek to differentiate themselves from the pack. So, it is no wonder that once true believers in the HD have turned on it and have forsaken it for another en vogue model. But fear not HD users, in case of nuclear war, the HD will last for all posterity.
