Lord L6 Vs. EJ89.Which is more agressive?

Well gents I currently own the Lord L6 at and it's been my primary razor since I started. I have aquired a couple others through Pifs and just got a super speed a couple days ago. But I've been itching to own a brand new razor and I've been looking at the EJ86, the one with the black handle, for a little while. But I don't think is justified getting it if it's not gonna be a bit more aggressive than the L6 which i really like. So gents would you say the EJ89 is more agressive or the L6. If you were to recommend me a more agressive razor a step above the l6, what would it be. Keep in mind I wouldn't want it as aggressive as a R41 yet, just a tad more than the l6.

The EJ89 is a nice razor but for aggressiveness you might try the Merkur 34c HD. Its even more aggressive than my Gillette Redtip. I get almost BBS shaves with it without even trying (three pass method). I use either Astra SP's or Gillette 7 o'clock blacks an both work great with the Merkur. Just a suggestion.

Gillette Single Ring, New Long Comb, both open-combs
The Cadet razors are supposed to be fairly aggressive, even the TTOs.
You could just use one shim in your Lord L6 to make it more aggressive.

The blade itself can make a razor more aggressive. You might try using Feather blades (I'm scared to use them myself -surgical sharp blade) or something along those lines and this will change the way your current razor shaves.

I have tried the feathers on the L6 and they have been the sharpest blades that I have every tried and the ones that leave my skin closer to bbs. Thing is the 3 shave with them is not so great and I have settled on the Gillette Yellow which is a damn fine blade and it lasts 4 shaves for me.

There must be about 20 definitions for the term aggressive around here. The only way I can see a blade affecting the geometry/gap/exposure/etc of a razor is if certain blades are wider than others, which I haven't seen any evidence suggesting this to be the case. I have found certain blades to work better in certain razors, but I don't see how the blade could make the razor more aggressive.

Also, all blades are very sharp...Feathers may be a little sharper than others but nothing to be concerned with.

I have nothing to contribute to this thread, but I have this Lord, and I like it. This is meaningless because I'm very new at this. I have wondered myself about these "Aggressiveness" rankings people keep talking about. I also have an early Gillette Tech, and some Chinese thing that I found at a local Chionese import store for $2.50... If someone can direct me to a good explaination of the term, I will owe you a high five.

I started with an L6 as my daily razor, until this past week. Off of BST I purchased a Muhle R41 Grande and Merkur Futur. I used a red Personna IP blade in each. The R41 gave me a BBS shave with a tremendous amount of irritation. I was happy with the BBS, but my face felt like it was sandblasted smooth. Today was the Futur's turn. I kept dialing up the gap until 5. At 5 I felt the razor was shaving more whisker than the L6. BBS smooth, with some irritation.

I will say the R41 BBS lasted longer throughout the day than the Futur BBS (as I quietly feel my face).

Still a toss up in my mind between the two. The Futur gets another turn tomorrow.

This might help you. I don't have any of the Techs or L6 so I can't comment on aggressiveness. But I do know that my Slim or Fatboy on 9 will cause serious bleeding if not used very carefully while a "mild" model like the SuperSpeed flairtip is far less likely to cause more than minor weepers. But danger factor aside, aggressiveness is also beneficial when dealing with very tough bears or several days of growth. I'm sure there are better explanations.
