One of my straights is very loose and I find it very difficult to shave with.( It also opened up on me and cut me as I was moving it.) Is there any way to tighten a straight so it doesn't flop loosely from its housing?

Put one side of the pin on a solid anvil like surface. Gently tap the other side with a big heave spoon, or a very light hammer a dozen times. Flip it over and do the same thing to the other side. Check and repeat if necessary.
You can try tightening it by light careful taps on the pin with a ball peen hammer. Some with the blade closed, some open.
