Looking to purchase a Shavemac...help

My regular go to brush, a NY Shaving CO. brush has shed and fallen apart. I am currently using a AOS pure badger brush, the one that comes in the sets. I am looking to get a Shavemac 410 (the 177 in black) and was wondering what mm size to get.
I have seen some guys on here like 23mm, others 26mm etc. I am looking into the silver tip because I like the finer softer hair as opposed to what I am stuck with using now, the AOS pure which is pretty rough and rigid.
My NY Shaving Co. brush was a fine badger hair and was nice and soft. Can someone tell me what are the differences between the fine and silver tip. Thanks.

In fact you have to answer to this question by yourself. Do you like the knot size of your current brush or do you want bigger/smaller?

I have the shavemac in silvertip with black handle in 23mm and white handle with 26mm and love em both. Also, the Kent H8 in silvertip is a great brush which I reach for probably too often. You can't go wrong with any of them and assured quality over time. Good luck.:thumbup1:

The fine has a little more backbone. If you like soaps the fine might be a better pick. Or, you could get a Shavemac D01. It's the best of both worlds. Very soft tips with excellent backbone. I picked one up a month ago and was not disappointed!

I just purchased the 177 in 21mm silvertip. It far exceeds my expectations and has become my go-to brush.
It is smaller than I thought I wanted, but turned out to be just right. I have a Steve Woodhead Scuttle (the small one), which, while not suited for larger brushes, is awesome for the smaller ones. The silvertip isn't stiff or particularly dense, but with Speick, Musgo Real, or Lavanda creams, has no problem holding enough product for 3 passes.

I've found that it is a great cream brush, but not my favorite for soaps, especially Proraso.

As previously said though, if you can get a D01, do it.
