Looking to buy an OC

I have very bizarre skin sometimes it's oily, sometimes it's dry, it's usually always sensitive & my beard is very thick. Currently i shave every other day. I go WTG, XTG, XTG in the opposite direction, and then a near against grain pass. Which results in a close shave. I'd like to eliminate the ATG pass so i can shave every day. Is an OC right for me, if so which model?

As a member of BOTOC, I'd have to say that an Open Comb razor is right for you, for sure.

Which model? Hmmmmm......my favorite is the FaTip, and it's not even close, but a lot of people like the long comb NEW.

I love my OCs. I like the FaTip, the LC NEW, and the Sheraton. I think any of the 3 would be a great aquisition.

The OC's definitely belong on the b&b hot list.......

If u can get ur hands on the 2010 Muhle r41 it's smooth and a wonderful shaver.

I'd agree. The Long Comb (LC) New is also a great razor and can be found a bit cheaper. Check out the BOTOC thread, you may find an OC is exactly what you need. Everyone there is very helpful.

Whats your price range? LOL

What a question! You have so many to choose from. If this is your first OC, then you may want to try on of the Merkurs such as the 1904 (41C), but the Gillette vintages such as the Old Type, Long Comb New, New Standard, Aristocrats, as they are fabulous shavers. You could also try the modern ones such as the Tradere, FaTip, or Joris. Good luck.

An OC is worth a try but it's not the answer for everyone.

I only have one OC, a NEW LC and even though it's the most efficient shaver I have, it leaves my face a little bit too raw.

I like mine, but it is not my closest shaver. But it gives a great shave without irritation every time I use it (and I use Feathers or Astras exclusively).

I have a 2010 R41. The 1904 has the same head, and would be a great intro to an OC. It's mild, yet very efficient and can be found for an extremely reasonable price. The 37C is a Slant, and that's a whole different setup altogether.

I've linked The Superior Shave's website as I've bought from Jarrod and he's a good dude with great customer service. No affiliation, I'm sure you can find it elsewhere for same or similar cost...or on the BST.

Joris if u have the $$$ or Fatip with a Tradere handle under 100 bucks:wink2:

As Alex has said, if you can shell out the extra $15 or so, many of those in the BOTOC have great reviews on the FaTip head...you may want to go that route. Read through some of the last 10 pages in the BOTOC thread, may help you make a decision.
