Looking for "ginger" style cologne

Hey All,

So I had a bottle of Lacoste White that my wife loved and somehow it was left in a hotel when we were away at a wedding. I actually liked it as well so it's not like I was trying to lose it!!

When we bought the cologne we were told it was a "ginger" style scent. I'm not really sure what the heck that means but hopefully the discerning noses here can help me find something similar. I can find the same cologne no problem if I go to Shoppers Drug Mart (local pharmacy here in Canada) but I'd like to try something new. Price isn't really important as if my wife likes it I'll be able to spend whatever it costs. :D

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

M.

YSL L'Homme Libre

They also have this one.......
It is an aquatic Ginger however.

And I have smelled Lacoste White, and I don't think there is any ginger in it. So you may want to smell these YSL ones to make sure you like them because they smell nothing like Lacoste White. (I think they are better).

I forgot to mention, "F Free Time" by Ferragamo. That one is ginger heavy too. But like I said, I think the salesperson who told you Lacoste White was a "ginger" scent may have been mistaken.

I don't know the Lacoste and I haven't tried many ginger heavy scents. That said, I wore Mona di Orio Vetyver yesterday and it opens with a big punch of ginger. Not my favorite, I must admit, but if you're looking for ginger, it's there

Thanks all for the replies!

Matt, since you've smelt (sp??) the Lacoste White before what other colognes would you say would be similar or along the same lines? If it's not ginger that's fine, I'm just relating what the sales lady told my wife and I... I'm game to try anything new! :) I do know my wife isn't a big fan of Cartier Sport (which I love) or Polo Blue (which I also don't like), but she enjoyed Alfred Sung Hei. Hopefully that info will give you a bit more of an idea of what she likes. :)

Cheers,

M.

No others really come to mind the resemble Lacoste White. In my opinion, it is a very soft, fresh, mild, unobtrusive fragrance. Maybe that is why your wife liked it? Polo Blue is not great in my opinion either, and Cartier Sport has a dash of mint in it, which turns a lot of people off it seems. Considering I think your wife may have like Lacoste White due to its freshness and softness....I can name a few which should be readily available at Macy's or Sephora's.......so if you can, take your wife with you to test them. However, like I said, they don't necessarily relate to Lacoste White.

YSL L'Homme
Armani Code
Dolce and Gabbana The One
Lacoste Pour Homme
Zegna Intenso

These are all pretty well liked and mainstream, popular fragrances. (Something tells me she is going to like one of the first two). If you don't mind a major price jump, check out Tom Ford Gray Vetiver......that one is an excellent fragrance! Hope this helped a bit. Like I said, I just cant think of anything that really resembles Lacoste White. So you may end up re-purchasing that bottle if nothing else works.
